Fan Sweeps Reese Witherspoon Jeopardy Category, And Reese Witherspoon Loved It
Doing well on Jeopardy requires a wealth of knowledge on a wide variety of academic and pop culture touchstones. That said, sweeping an entire Jeopardy category is a different process altogether, requiring an in-depth understanding of a particular subject. It is typically a treat when we see a Jeopardy contestant run an entire section of the game, and that is precisely what happened recently when a competitor dominated a Reese Witherspoon category. As it turns out, the Legally Blonde star was watching, and she took to social media to congratulate the contestant, also sharing the whole category for your viewing pleasure. Take a look.
It is always nice to have a cheering section when you are competing in anything, but having the actual Reese Witherspoon by your side (particularly when you're clearly knowledgeable about Reese Witherspoon) has to help. Starting off with James Mangold's Walk the Line, the category opens when fellow Jeopardy competitor Daniel jumps the gun and then loses the answer. From there, Emily steps in dominates the entire section of the game -- running through movies like Legally Blonde, Wild, and rounding things out with Sweet Home Alabama. Needless to say, Reese Witherspoon seems very impressed by the display and more than willing to cheer Emily on.
That performance is already impressive in its own right, but it is made even more impressive due to the sheer point disparity that results from Emily's ability to run the scoreboard. By the time she has cleaned up the entire Reese Witherspoon category, she has left one of her competitors with no money, and the aforementioned Daniel in the red with -$200. Not a bad showing for Emily at all.
It seems reasonably likely that Jeopardy categories about Reese Witherspoon will only get deeper and harder from here. The actress has kept herself incredibly busy in recent years, appearing in a broad range of projects like HBO's Big Little Lies and Ava DuVernay's A Wrinkle in Time. Moreover, she's also reportedly attached to a live-action Tinker Bell movie. If Emily ever gets a chance to return to Jeopardy and play a similar category, we hope that Witherspoon will once again take to Twitter to provide some much-needed moral support. After all, that is the beauty of social media, isn't it? It helps bring some of the world's biggest stars closer to their fans for moments such as this.
