Patty Jenkins Reveals Wonder Womans New Suit For 1984
The DC live-action universes life in theaters has been an interesting one. While it seems that Warner Bros. has found its stride with Aquaman and Shazam!, there was a time when the DCEUs new releases left something to be desired. At least according to critical and fan reactions.
The exception to this rule was 2017's Wonder Woman, that is. Patty Jenkins brought the first DC critical hit, and Diana Princes origin story became a pop culture moment. The fandom has been eager for the highly anticipated sequel Wonder Woman 1984, although the upcoming blockbuster was pushed back to June of 2020. It was recently revealed that 1984 won't have a presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, and Jenkins revealed an epic early look at Wonder Woman to satiate the fandom. Check it out.
Holy gold. This new suit looks far more armored and structured than the one Gal Gadot rocked throughout Wonder Woman and Justice League. The new look is decidedly badass, and should get a big reaction from the rabid fanbase.
Patty Jenkins' tweet sure did deliver something exciting for DC fans, despite Wonder Woman 1984 not getting its own panel at San Diego Comic-Con's Hall H. Jenkins seems to have her ear to the ground with the fandom, and found a way to break the internet without bringing the cast and crew to the event next month. Brace yourself DC fans, because Diana Prince is armoring up for her highly anticipated sequel.
This new Wonder Woman 1984 poster is in stark juxtaposition to the color palette typically associated with the Amazonian character. Usually she's shown in her typical red and blue costume, with lighting and background helping to make those colors pop in a way that does justice to comic books. But the new image shared by Patty Jenkins takes color to a new level, with a rainbow palette and golden armor.
It should be interesting to see exactly what Patty Jenkins has up her sleeve for Wonder Woman 1984. Despite how filming began so long ago, the contents and plot of the film are being kept tightly under wraps. While the principal cast has been assembled and the story will introduce Kristin Wiig's Cheetah, the highly anticipated sequel is a total mystery to the general public.

One of the biggest question marks surrounding Wonder Woman 1984 is how the time jump will work. The '80s are an iconic decade, one that plenty of shows and movies have used as their setting. Both the world and Wonder Woman herself have presumably changed quite a bit in the decades since the events of the first film.
Fans are also eager to see how Chris Pine's Steve Trevor factors into the story. Trevor perished during the events of Wonder Woman, so his inclusion in 1984 threw moviegoers for a loop. He appears un-aged in the first glimpse at the character in the sequel, so clearly Patty Jenkins has some bold narrative choices in mind. It's too bad we'll have to wait another year for the blockbuster to finally arrive in theaters.
Wonder Woman 1984 is set to arrive in theaters on June 5th, 2020. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
