Looks Like Thor's Scar Is On The Wrong Side Of His Face In Infinity War Poster
Last year's Thor: Ragnarok took quite the toll on the God of Thunder. He lost his father and king, his home world and even his eye courtesy of Hela. The missing eye was sneakily hidden from the marketing for Ragnarok but the marketing for Avengers: Infinity War has shown that he didn't magically heal between films. Thor will enter the battle with Thanos down an eye, but a new poster for the film seems confused about which eye was actually wounded. You can see on the poster that although the eyepatch is on the correct eye (the right one), the accompanying scar is on the wrong side. Take a look.
So yeah, that seems to be a clear oversight and just adds another wound to poor Thor who may soon find himself an only child. In Ragnarok, the vicious Hela took Thor's right eye, which is where the eyepatch correctly is on this poster. But the scar that came from that wound is now over his left, undamaged eye. While the scar over a working eye look is very cool, very John Locke-esque, it is not correct. You can see on the screenshot below from the Infinity War trailer that Thor's left cheek is scar free.
I imagine that this happened because the artist was playing with placement and moving things around and just missed this little detail. That kind of thing can happen with these Photoshop-y posters. There were probably multiple people who double-checked this thing and simply became snowblind and didn't see it. And with so many characters on this poster to get right, this error fell through the cracks. It's not even the biggest mistake though; the creative team forgot to put Hawkeye in entirely! That said, this poster is still very cool and colorful and reminds us just how many different characters will be suiting up for the fight in this movie.
Although far from ideal, a mistake on a poster isn't a major issue and is easily remedied. If Thor had the scar and eyepatch over the wrong eye in the film, well, that would be very bad. Fortunately, Thor has already been seen plenty in the trailers for Infinity War and all seems to be in order. Whether Thor makes it out of the film alive and without some new wounds is another matter entirely. Judging by the trailers, he is not in for a good time. According to co-director Joe Russo, the God of Thunder will have some of the most screen time in the film and we think he is also one of the characters most likely to die.
You'll want both eyes open to experience the awesomeness when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th. For all the latest in poster analysis and the proper placement of badass scars, stay tuned to CinemaBlend.
As you can see, Thor still has a patch on what appears to be his right eye, but the accompanying scar is on the left side of his face and over a totally normal eye in the poster image. It's likely that whoever designed this poster decided to horizontally mirror the image of Chris Hemsworth - presumably to establish better placement or a What are the three marks on Thanos' face? - Quora

A Ton Of Thought Went Into Godzilla's Appearance In King Of The Monsters
Given that this weeks Godzilla: King of the Monsters is the sequel to Gareth Edwards 2014 Godzilla, you would think that the titular lizard looks exactly the same in the new film. That isnt the case though, at least not entirely, because Godzilla underwent a bit of a makeover for his latest epic monster clash. A lot of thought went into Godzillas appearance in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, as the films director, Michael Dougherty, explained:
His back spikes are closer in alignment to the original 1954 film. I really loved their design. They sort of almost look like frozen fire. And the thing that Ive always believed is that Godzillas spikes are his literal crown. If Godzillas swimming straight at you, there is a great silhouette created by his spikes, and they look like a crown sitting atop his head. It was important to me that they be larger and, since five years have transpired, [I] like to imagine that, much like the antlers on deer or elk they have simply grown larger over those years.
Frozen fire is a really cool way to describe Godzillas spikes, and for the new movie, Michael Dougherty sought to tweak those spikes from the last film to bring them a little more in line with the monster's first big screen appearance, as he told Entertainment Weekly. That adds another nice little nod to the titans past in a film that has been teased as being chock full of Easter eggs for fans of the property.
Michael Dougherty also views Godzillas spikes as his crown, making him the titular king of the monsters. So in addition to tweaking their design, he wanted this crown to have greater prominence in his movie that sees multiple titans contend for the throne. Apparently Godzilla is still a growing lad, and in the time since the first movie, his spikes have grown even larger.
Bigger spikes just make Godzilla look even cooler and its quite appropriate that the spikes that form his crown have grown because heavy will be his head as he attempts to save the Earth and contends with Ghidorah for the title of king. I also really dig the idea that hes still growing in some ways. To paraphrase another property featuring epic battles, this isnt even his final form!
This all goes to show how much thought went in to Godzillas look in the film and how much Michael Dougherty cares about the property and wanted to put his own stamp on it. Godzillas appearance in King of the Monsters isnt purely formal though its also functional. The titans get new looks when fighting and charging up for their attacks, as the film's production designer Scott Chambliss explained:
What we did was bring something new to the monsters themselves, a visual physical manifestation of how each of the monsters charge up before they let their highest voltage energy blasts rip. In our version, his breath starts down at his very base and goes up his tail, and courses through his body, and you see it kind of radiating through his flesh, and finally comes out in a big blast. Its not that every monster has the same thing, just a different color, theyve all got something where we see their bodies gearing up before they let go.
You can see what he is talking about in the latest Godzilla 2 trailer, in which we see Godzilla charging up to use his atomic breath. His spikes glow with blue energy starting at his tail before coursing up his back and to his head where he spits out his attack. Theres even a great humming sound that isnt entirely different from the sound a lightsaber makes while hes doing it.
Its a very cool visual that shows the amount of energy Godzilla has inside him and it adds a nice build to his most potent weapon. As Scott Chambliss said, the other Titans have visual representations of their charging as well, each unique to that creature. Weve seen Ghidorah crackling with electric energy in the trailers and presumably the ethereal glow around Mothra is her deceptively beautiful precursor to violent attack.
You can see Godzillas new look when Godzilla: King of the Monsters stomps into theaters on May 31. Check out our 2019 Release Schedule to keep track of all of this summers biggest movies.

Robert Downey Jr. Improvised That 'Liar' Scene In Avengers: Endgame
Avengers: Endgame was Robert Downey Jr.'s final MCU movie as Iron Man and it sounds like the actor had some free roam to make his own personal touches on the script. Not only did he add in the increasingly famous "I love you 3000," but he also improved a hard-hitting line during an early scene of the film. Downey improvised the line where Tony Stark calls Steve Rogers a liar, according to co-director Anthony Russo.
Towards the beginning of Avengers: Endgame, Tony Stark arrives back on Earth exhausted, malnourished, and a little delirious. While recuperating, he has a confrontational scene with Steve Rogers, who he has not seen since they had their dramatic falling out in Captain America: Civil War. Tony digs into Steve for saying that they would lose together (a reference to Avengers: Age of Ultron), and calls him a liar.
It's an intense scene, and the way Robert Downey Jr. spits out the word liar makes it land with a lot of impact. The "liar" was all RJD, and Anthony Russo told Empire that it helped make his performance all the better.
I think that was one of Downey's most inspired performance moments in the movie. He very much reverts to, this is the guy who felt forsaken by his father you can see his intimacy and trust issues in that moment when he turns on Cap. Downey performed the scene with a lot of energy. We didn't do it many times, because he was expending himself so, so much. He understood it very well.
That scene is definitely an early highlight of Endgame. It helps to further divide the Avengers after the Snap and helps to set the tone for the helplessness of the situation they are in. It also helps to set up Tony's arc in the film as he essentially gives up and refuses to support an attack on Thanos.
While Robert Downey Jr. has always brought his A-game in all of his performances as Iron Man, his work in Endgame seems to be getting some special recognition. Some people have gone as far as to say that he should be nominated for an Academy award. We're still very far away from awards season, but it'll be interesting to see how Disney will campaign for Endgame or how voters will react.
Thankfully, there is still some time to see Avengers: Endgame one more time. Though there are lots of new movies arriving every week, Endgame is still holding on and is still playing in some theaters. Will it manage to topple Avatar at the box office?
