New Mission: Impossible Fallout Feature Focuses On Henry Cavill's Character (And His Stache)
The wait for the sixth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise has been long and full of twists and turns. Interest in the new movie started growing in 2017 when Tom Cruise broke his ankle doing a crazy stunt for Mission: Impossible -- Fallout then continued to heighten as we learned more about how that film was intertwined with reshoots on Justice League, all thanks to the growth of Henry Cavill's mustache. While we've seen plenty of footage from the movie in the time since, the latest feature from Paramount gives us a better look at Henry Cavill's character, who is "something of a wild card." Check him and his now-famous mustache out, below.
In Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Henry Cavill plays August Walker, a dude with a dislike for Ethan Hunt, who will be going against the CIA's wishes to complete a mission in the new movie. Both characters should be opposite of one another, and Henry Cavill previously mentioned that both men will be at odds in the new movie, as well, noting,
Ethan believes that whatever Walker is doing, it's not helping. Ethan Hunt is a hero, the guy who makes sure everyone stays alive. Walker thinks the way Ethan carries out his business is ultimately more of a threat to the mission and more of a threat to the greater good.
They two will clash, of course, and we've already seen Hunt and Walker fighting in a memorable --and dazzlingly bright -- bathroom sequence. There's actually a lot we've already seen from the movie, including the shot where Cruise famously injured himself, causing production to shut down, and another helicopter sequence that also includes Henry Cavill's new character. Despite the fact that we've seen quite a bit of footage from the upcoming sequel, this video is still chock full fun stuff, so give it a watch, already.
Namely, if you want to learn more about the cast, there's a lot to unpack, and it's all part of what Ving Rhames is calling a "symphony of actors" in this behind-the-scenes look at the movies, which also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Sean Harris, Angela Bassett, Michelle Monaghan and Alec Baldwin.
Although nary a word about Justice League is mentioned here, the mustache is front and center, and director Christopher McQuarrie recently addressed mustachegate in an interview. Why Neil Patrick Harris Bawled When He Took His Family To Disney World
The Disney Parks in Orland and Southern California are some of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, and even famous actors aren't immune to their charms. In fact, Neil Patrick Harris recently revealed that he took a vacation with husband David Burtka and his kids to Disney World, and he had such a nice time while in the Magic Kingdom that he bawled uncontrollably. Don't take it from me, though, here's what he had to say about the trip:
I took a family vacation to Orlando with my husband and our two kids who were then maybe two or three. And we went on Peter Pan's Flight. But the first time we rode it, I just was with my family, at Disney, riding a ride, and I was just bawling. 'Cause I just thought it was an awesome thing. My parents took my brother and I there and so it was fun to relive that through and with their eyes.
Of all of the magical rides in all of the magical parks, Peter Pan's Flight is among the most magic-filled. Although it's neither high-octane or new, the ride takes you on a flying ship over London and then Neverland. It's such a popular ride that it has posted one of the longest wait times this decade, with a posted wait time of 300 minutes. The ride even has a whole enchanting room on the ride that makes you feel as if you are flying among the stars. Neil Patrick Harris wasn't specific about when he cried on Peter Pan's Flight, but if there's a segment of that ride that will make riders start to feel all of the feels, it's probably that one.
As Neil Patrick Harris told People, Disney World is a place his parents took him as a kid, and he was simply overjoyed that he was able to have the same experience as an adult with his own family. Clearly Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are big Disney fans, and even shared a photo a few months ago at Disney's California Adventure Park, which you can take a look at, below.
Of course, Disney World looks very different these days. There are now four parks, and Disney's Animal Kingdom opened up Avatar's Pandora section last year. In addition, Hollywood Studios is also undergoing a major renovation that will add rides that are Pixar-themed, as well as a whole brand new Star Wars section, complete with a themed hotel. This weekend sees a pair of major film releases, one is the slightly quiet opening of Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, but the other is about a group of characters that couldn't be quiet if they tried. Bohemian Rhapsody brings the story of Freddie Mercury, and to a lesser extent the rest of Queen, to the big screen. We here at CinemaBlend have had a chance to check it out and, while it's a film with some real energy in its musical sequences that would make Queen proud, the rest of the story falls a little flat. Bohemian Rhapsody is a film that has a killer soundtrack and fantastic performances despite the material's shortcomings. But when it comes to evaluating the film as a biopic, it's a film that carries on (carries on), but ultimately doesn't really matter.
The music of Queen was known for its energy as well as it's frequently unusual aspects. The movie itself takes its name from one of the most unique pieces in all of rock music, Bohemian Rhapsody. For a band that was often on the bleeding edge of the industry, the movie itself plays things fairly safe with a pretty standard biopic structure of success, self-destruction, and redemption. Managing director Sean O'Connell felt that while the music made the movie fun enough, and Rami Malek's turn as frontman Freddie Mercury was spot on, it's a surface level retelling of the story.
The music of Queen boosts Bohemian Rhapsody, and makes it an enjoyable theatrical experience. But as a biopic of the experimental rock outfit -- and of the gifted Freddie Mercury -- the movie leaves a little to be desired. Rami Malek may do a mean Freddie impersonation. But the movie neglects to dig into the minds behind the music, and I left learning next to nothing about this special band.
Bohemian Rhapsody is certainly a fast-paced tale. It covers nearly two decades in barely over two hours, which forces the film to speed through pretty much everything that it does. Between showing us the birth of some great rock tunes we also need to watch the band grow and evolve over time. The result of the pacing is that we rarely get to digest one experience before we're on to the next.
But man, that music though. Whether it's watching the birth of "We Will Rock You" or hearing the bass line for "Another One Bites the Dust" for the first time, whenever the music takes center stage there's a fun in Bohemian Rhapsody that you can't ignore. And the Live Aid sequence will likely go down in history as one of the best musical moments in cinema. My own thoughts? Well, quite simply...
I'll say this. No movie has made me want to go home and play Rock Band more in my life.
In the end, Bohemian Rhapsody is a fun movie. The music is great and everything else, while maybe not special, isn't bad, it's just...expected, something we could rarely if ever say about Queen or Freddie Mercury.
